Sleep and Nighttime Anxiety
The day is finally over and the house is quiet, and instead of rest your mind switches on. This is the work of letting your system perform its own nightfall.
You're exhausted and wired at the same time. The lights are off, the day is done, and the moment your body should be powering down, your mind comes online: the replays, the tomorrow-lists, the dread you were too busy to feel all day. You watch the clock do the math on how little sleep is left, which makes sleep less likely, which makes the clock worse. You've tried the sleep hygiene rules and the apps, and they help a little and then stop, because the problem was never really the routine.
The reason night is when it hits is not a coincidence, and once you understand it, the nights start to change.
What’s actually happening
All day, activity keeps a certain kind of anxiety at bay; motion is its own distraction. When the day stops, the distraction stops, and everything the busyness was holding off arrives at once, in the dark, with nothing to do about any of it. On top of that, an anxious nervous system struggles to make the shift from alertness into rest, the internal nightfall that should happen on its own, so it stays switched on right when it needs to power down. Fighting to sleep only raises the alarm, because effort is the opposite of rest. The work is to help your system make that shift, to meet the thoughts that arrive at night without feeding them, and to stop treating sleep as a performance you might fail.
The Nightfall Kit
This is the guided intervention for anxious sleeplessness. It works with the exact moment the mind switches on at night and helps your system make the shift from alertness into rest. Includes a private audio walkthrough recorded by Lisa.
The next step
The kit this one connects to is The Signal Kit, the baseline mechanism underneath the nighttime anxiety.
The Downloadable Care Guide
This is a practical visual companion that reinforces the work and keeps the practices within reach at bedtime. It's an instant download from craftyourwellness.com.
How the work is built
Start with The Nightfall Kit. If the nights sit on top of a broader baseline anxiety, The Signal Kit is the root beneath it. Not sure? The free assessment will point you. Take the free assessment →
